They gave me weird hours and always gave me the shortest shifts possible which is 3 hours, mind you that I don't live near the location. I worked here for over a year and it just did not work for me. One of the biggest things I learned about myself was that I could handle doing multiple things at ones and that juggling. The hardest part was always telling a customer that a scent that they loved was long gone and wouldn't be coming back. One of the things that I enjoyed most was being able to help customers find exactly what they were looking for, closely followed by helping them find something new to enjoy. I always had great repore with most of my co-workers, however a majority of us felt that the store manager was incompetent as far as how he handled things. After I was through with processing the shipment I would take out the trash to either the cardboard recycling compactor, or the trash compactor and run each machine to clear out the drop off area. On occasion I would also ring up orders for customers and help them figure out any promotions that we had going on. During that time, I'd always approach customers and assist them in any way that I could, or they would approach me and I would do anything I could to get them what they were looking for. Next I would take the merchandise out and stock it wherever it needed to go. After getting everything separated I'd look at what I had and determine what I could use on the sales floor, and what was to stay in the back room. I'd separate the merchandise by the area it was going to be stocked in. moreĪ typical day at work for me was to get in right as the store opened and get to work on sorting through the days shipment. When I asked my manager, there was no response, but when I let her know I wanted to quit, she responded within MINUTES. There were times when I would show up to work, and the manager's little pet for an employee would tell me I wasn't needed for the day, despite the fact that my shift was still on the company calendar. But I was constantly micromanaged and watched like they thought I was going to mess up and steal something. The management treated the caucasian employees in a warm, friendly manner. Was one of the few few people of color with an accent, and I was treated like garbage. For a minimum wage job, these people are willing to walk all over their fellow employees, not even for benefits, but just to be in the good books of the terrible manager. They claim to be warm and friendly, but these are some of the some of the most competitive people you'll ever meet. They don't care about anyone but their caucasian employees or those who constantly sweet talked and flattered them. I sucked it up and did as much as I could, but it was never enough. I took a leave for Thanksgiving and I was reprimanded for it, even though I gave 2-3 weeks' notice. They would call us in whenever they wanted to with no regard for our personal lives. I was a student earning 2 degrees with multiple health conditions, yet I was not given flexible hours. I was told they do “in store growth opportunities” when I started. a measly paycheck after weeks of stress dealing with customers trying to steal products or use expired coupons.

so unless you’re an already experience key holder or manager, you’ll get benefits and guaranteed hours while associates get… well….

Also little to NO hours existed after the holidays and their communication to tell you that is non-existentant. And if you’re just an associate, you’re just a work mule. This was definitely a place where people HAVE favorites. Then when I moved to another location, things changed within the policy, and their “inclusion” wasn’t very pro-active when it came to other coworkers being very clique-y. Management was iffy, been through many of them, and maybe 1/4 of them were decent people. Like pulling teeth to get more duties and responsibilities in this work place. I went from seasonal to part time associate and it felt Despite customer service being a bummer, I loved doing replenishments and cashiering. At first, I spent my first three years at the same location, and for the first time on my job history, I found a job I enjoyed.

Located to different locations, so I’m pretty seasoned when it comes to the same routine. It seems like everyone’s experience at this company is 50/50, and I’ve been around b&bw for maybe almost 5 years now.
