But I have also discovered that certain ways of shooting can affect the lifespan of your shutter. Of course it goes without saying that if your camera body has been exposed to regular bumps and knocks, moisture or just general misuse then you should expect the lifespan of the shutter, or very well the camera itself to be limited. some cameras may well exceed to 100,000 shutter actuations before giving out where as others may well pack in at 25,000. The shutter rating of a camera given by a manufacturer is a rough guideline based on in house tests.
most of them regarding the GH1 and other makes of camera, but not all of them were specific to the Micro Four Thirds standard, so there is some assumption based in here as well. Bear in mind much of the info I pass on here was obtained by reading and comparing information from many other blogs, reviews and magazine posts. "Crikey", I thought, that must mean that my camera is soon to pop it's clogs. It took a while, being passed from pillar to post, but eventually I was informed that the GH1 is rated at 50,000 to 70,000 actuations! Having not found much in the way of specific details for the GH1 via googling and perusing internet in general, I took it upon myself to contact Panasonic directly. I might add I did buy my camera second hand a couple of years back and didn't actually check the amount of actuations when I bought it!
Although the camera is still working fine, I found myself concerned as to just how much longer will it last, having made 44,760 shutter actuations since it was first taken out of it's box.
